In order to respond to the diversity of regions under the remit of the centre (Central and Eastern Europe), the Unit of Mixed Research is composed of the following components : CIRCE (Centre of Central European Interdisciplinary Research), which encompasses both a site and a review ; CIRRUS (Centre of Interdisciplinary Russian Research)

Since 2013/2014, the team has been affiliated with the Research Association (GDR), ‘Knowledge of Central Europe’

The Institute of Slavonic Studies was created in 1919 by the historian Ernest Denis with the help of the French, Czechoslovakian and Yugoslavian governments, and, from 1923, with the added participation of Poland. The Institute of Slavic Studies has a formal link with the UMR, from which is taken its three mission purposes : information, documentation and publishing.
